Scouting

Scouts are everywhere in our masjid.  You will see them on any given weekend during their meetings, planning trips, performing service tasks, and helping out wherever they are needed.  We have Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts (which includes Tiger Cubs, Wolf Cubs, Bear Cubs, and of course Webelos), and if there are any other kind of scouts out there, we have em too!

If you are a parent, and you are tired of seeing your kids glued to electronic devices or TV all day long, you need to look into one of our many scouting groups - we are certain that you and your children will be better for it.

We will be adding details on all of the various scouting groups in the days to come.  In the meantime, if you cannot wait to get started on your own scouting journey, or have any other questions, fill out the Contact Form for the group you are interested in.  If no one has responded to your inquiry in a few days, please email [email protected] and we will follow up on your behalf.

The motto of the Girl Scout organization is that "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place". It is considered the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.

Girl Scout troop 13467 is chartered with Masjid AlSalam. Come and join us!

Cub Scouting (now called 'Family scouting') is fun! No matter what grade your little boy or girl is in, KG through fifth, it can be a blast. They can learn to tie knots, set up a tent, and shoot a bow and arrow (archery) or a BB gun. Have they ever cooked a meal on a campfire? Sent a secret code to a buddy? Built a birdhouse? Hiked? Gone fishing or Kayaking? Do they like to learn by doing? This is just the place to do these fun activities and many more. Most fun part is that parents get to participate in these activities with their kids! Kids earn rewards for doing these things in Cub Scouts.

Cub Scouts Belong to Dens and a Pack

Each Cub Scout will be part of a pack. The Cub Scout pack belongs to a chartered organization like mosque, church, a school, or some other group of people in your community or neighborhood. This group makes sure your pack has good adult leaders, a place to meet, and exciting things to do. The group gets help from the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), which is part of Scouting around the world. Our Pack (Pack321) is chartered under Masjid Al-Salam and is in the Phoenix district of Sam Houston Area Council (SHAC).

The pack is divided into smaller groups called dens. Each den has about six to eight scouts. All of the Cub Scouts in a den are in the same grade and may even go to the same school. Boys and Girls will be in separate Dens.

Cub Scouts Do Things and Go Places

Cub Scouts get to do things like visit the local police station and talk to the policemen on duty, or visit the fire station and sit in the driver's seat of the pumper truck, or visit the local TV station and sit in the news anchor's chair. These are some of the places your Cub Scout might go with your den or pack.

They also get to build a Pinewood Derby car and race it on the track, participate in a push mobile race or bake an especially themed cake with their fathers in the Baking Contest!
